The library is among one of the medium-sized branches of the KJM; since 1996 it has been located on the ground floor of the Brno-Vinohrady district town hall and has barrier-free access. It has a separate section for adult and children readers, which was renovated in 2021. The branch cooperates with local kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, to whom it offers educational programmes, and organises a number of cultural and educational events for the general public: lectures, author readings, art workshops and knowledge competitions for book prizes. It is involved in the Lekotéka project (toys and didactic aids) and actively participates in other projects aimed at promoting children's reading (Bookstart, etc.).
The activities of the branch are supported by the Brno-Vinohrady district council with an annual financial contribution for the purchase of new books and also by the Support for Reading and Literacy project, under which the registration fee for children and young people up to 18 years of age with permanent residence or study in Vinohrady is covered by the funds of the Brno-Vinohrady district council.
