The library is one of the main branches of the KJM and is located in the centre of the district near the Rubín cultural centre. In 2006 it was expanded after renovation to include adult and children's sections as well as a reading room for the public. In 2014, with the help of the Brno-Žabovřesky district, it received new interior furnishings, which serve to increase the comfort of users. The branch organises cultural and educational events for the general public, offering lectures, exhibitions and readings by a number of personalities of various cultural backgrounds. It cooperates with local kindergartens and primary schools, to whom it offers educational programmes, participates in projects to promote children's reading and is involved in the Lekotéka project (toys and didactic aids). It provides readers with access to articles in electronic form through an on-line catalogue and enables them to download and borrow e-books.
The activities of the branch are supported by the Brno-Žabovřesky district town hall.
